In today’s episode, we’ll be chatting about five places to find freelance clients.

1. Job Boards/Job Sites

One of the first places that many people look for freelance jobs is on job boards and sites. You can find some quick wins in your business through sites like ProBlogger, Upwork, Freelancer, and more. These sites don’t always provide the most lucrative contracts, but sometimes you can find a diamond in the rough.

2. Social Media

Networking can be extremely beneficial for freelancers. Creating a profile on social media and connecting with your ideal audience is a great way to find potential opportunities. These opportunities can come to you in several ways:

  1. People find you via social media.

  2. Pitching companies you find on social media.

  3. People posting their open jobs on social media.

Be open to the various ways you can use social media to attract clients.

3. Cold Pitching

One of my favorite ways to attract clients is through cold pitching. Some of my most lucrative freelance opportunities came from a simple cold pitch email. When you send out a cold pitch, it might not always be the right time for your potential clients. Cold pitching is one of the best ways to get in front of companies who aren’t seeking you out, though.

4. Referrals

As you grow your business, you will make an impression on a ton of people. You can ask your clients for referrals, or they may think of you when one of their friends needs some freelance work done. Referrals can bring in a ton of income, and you don’t have to think about it.

5. SEO/Inbound Marketing

Last but not least, inbound marketing is a fantastic way to connect with new clients. If you want to start inbound marketing, you need a website. Check out my freelance website Amanda Cross Co. for an example of how I use my website. Create content for your website and use it to grow your business. Alternatively, you could start other projects like a business podcast or a YouTube channel to build SEO and fuel your inbound leads.
